Conditions of enrolment In this document, ewef, ecollegef and eStep One Collegef mean LETS Australia Pty Ltd operating under any of its trading names, and/or any successor organisations. eYouf means the student this application form relates to. 1. VISA: Step One is not responsible for your visa. It is your responsibility to arrange your own visa. 2. EXPENSES & OHSC: Your expenses, including such things as insurance, are not included in the fees we quote. It is your responsibility to obtain your own insurances, although if you have a student visa, you can apply for Overseas Student Health Care (OSHC) on this form. You are strongly advised to obtain your own insurances even when they are not compulsory for your visa. 3. STUDENT VISA HOLDERS: You must (by law) keep us up to date with your correct address in Australia, you must maintain 80% attendance over your whole course, and you must make satisfactory academic progress. You must also have Overseas Student Health Care for the whole of your stay in Australia on the student visa. If any dependants (e.g. children) of school age come with you, they will be required to pay full fees for schools, whether government or private. It is the responsibility of the student to follow the rules of their visa, and to find out about any changes to the rules. 4. CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS If you cancel your course, we can take no action until we receive the notification from you in writing. 5. If you cancel your course less than 28 days before your commencement date, a cancellation fee of 20% of your tuition fees will apply. If you cancel your course less than 14 days before your commencement date, a cancellation fee of 50% of your tuition fees will apply. No refunds will be made after the start date of the course. In the unlikely event that a student wants to terminate his/her course, the balance of fees is not refundable. 6. If you cancel your accommodation arrangements less than 28 days before your commencement date, a cancellation fee of 50% of accommodation fees will apply. If you cancel your accommodation arrangements less than 14 days before your commencement date, a cancellation fee of 80% of accommodation fees will apply. In the unlikely event that a student wants to terminate his/her accommodation arrangements after the arrangement has started, the balance of fees is not refundable. 7. In the unlikely event of default by LETS Australia Pty Ltd trading as Step One College, such situations are covered by the provisions of the ESOS Act 2000 and the ESOS Regulations 2001. In cases where the college defaults, the college will firstly try to arrange a place for you in an alternative course at the collegefs expense. Failing this, the collegefs tuition assurance scheme, English Australia, will arrange for you to be offered a place in a suitable alternative course. If a suitable place in an alternative course is not found after these steps have been taken, you will get a full refund from the tuition assurance scheme. The Administration Manager can be contacted on Ph: 61(0)2 9283 | 4684 or admanager@letsworld.jp. 8. If DIAC doesnft issue a visa for you before the start date of your course, and we receive from you the letter from DIAC that says your visa application is rejected, we will refund all your tuition fees. 9. All fees other than tuition fees and accommodation fees are not refundable. These non-refundable fees include: enrolment fee, accommodation arrangement fee, and airport pickup fee (except in cases where Step One defers or cancels your course, you can claim a refund of all compulsory fees, including the enrolment fee). 10. Your tuition fees cannot be transferred to another person or institution. However, they may be transferred to another course within Step One. If you have a student visa, there may be visa restrictions on courses you can transfer to, DIAC will be notified and, if a new CoE is required, you must pay the fee for this (see the collegefs fee schedule). 11. All applications for refunds must be made in writing to the Administration Manager, as soon as possible after the incident which leads to the refund request. 12. All refunds are made in Australian dollars and will be paid within two weeks of receiving the written request for refund in the case that the course doesnft run, or four weeks of receiving the written request for refund in all other circumstances. 13. If the refund method involves bank fees (e.g. by bank draft or electronic transfer), the bank fees will be deducted from the refund amount. Also, refunds will not include any amount that Step One has paid or owes to any organisation outside Step One in relation to your course (e.g. commission to your agent). 14.EXPULSION: Step One can expel students for behaviour which may cause problems for other students, the collegefs reputation, the collegefs relationship with other organisations (such as building management) or for breaking laws applicable in New South Wales. Appropriate disciplinary procedures will apply. No refund will be paid to any student who is expelled. 15. This information includes changes to your enrolment, your attendance and your academic results. It is a legal requirement that we inform DIAC (or its successors) if you break student visa rules about attendance or satisfactory academic performance. We may also give information (including academic results) to further studies organisations, parents or guardians (if you are under 18), or your agent. 21.
